When you contact us to do a septic inspection, we first go to the health department that issued the septic permit and acquire a copy of the original permit to assist in locating the tank, if time permits. Many times there is no evidence of where the septic tank is located. This is important because if the tank is covered and no risers are present, the tank must be uncovered to perform the inspection. Often the tank is a foot or more below the surface and requires time to dig and uncover, so it is important that you request the inspection as soon as possible.
The inspector will contact a company to pump the tank in order to provide a complete inspection, or the buyer may "waive" having the tank pumped and have the inspector provide an inspection of the current functionability of the system.
The inspector will then complete a detailed inspection report, complete with pictures of the system and a copy of the septic permit and diagram of the tank. This report will be forwarded to the person requesting the inspection, promptly to avoid delays. If you are in need of a prompt, detailed, certified septic inspection, simply contact us and we will be happy to help!
